  • New Jeff Koons Exhibition 'Now'

A new exhibition of Jeff Koons work is now running at Newport Street Gallery in Vauxhall, London until the 16th of October 2016.

Newport Street Gallery is the result of Damien Hirst’s long term dream to open an art gallery where he can share his vast art collection with the general public through various exhibitions. The Jeff Koons exhibition is only the 2nd exhibition to take place at Newport Street Gallery since it’s recent opening on October 8th 2015. The exhibition was carefully planned by both Jeff and Damien who have been friends for many years. The ‘Now’ exhibition covers 35 years of Jeff Koon’s work and features nearly all of his major art themes from the end of the seventies to the present day including his readymade series which was a pop inspired update on Marcel Duchamp famous Urinal artwork from 1917 observing the intrigue of American consumerism through the unusual pristine and other worldly presentation of manufactured goods, his famous inflatable series featuring balloon animal sculptures cast in stainless steel, his celebration series with a distinct kitsch theme featuring childhood toys and his made In heaven series featuring Ilona Staller who briefly became his wife as result of working with Jeff as the two subjects of the photos featured in the series.

You will find over 30 paintings, sculptures and works on paper, a number of which have never been exhibited before in the UK, spread across 6 gallery spaces. The exhibition runs until the 16th of October 2016. Admission is free and opening times are Tuesday – Sunday, 10am – 6pm. Closed Mondays and open late on Saturdays till 10pm. See link below for details.

Please also see the link below for the BBC television programme about the exhibition and the two artists involved, available to watch until the 28th June 2016.

  • Welcome To Opius Gallery

Welcome to Opius Gallery providing an exciting opportunity to receive art direct from the artist’s studio. We aim to provide affordable art covering many subjects and styles from artists of a distinct and interesting nature.

There are many artists out there with a lot of talent often unseen by the masses. The internet provides an opportunity to create a platform to bring these artists to the masses and a place where people can find artwork that is perfect for them at the perfect price.

We would like to open up the art market promoting art collecting as something an increasing amount of people can do. Art collecting is an exciting and deeply interesting activity and there is no reason in the modern age of the internet why it should only be for the few.
