Henry Jones

Working predominantly in watercolour, Henry finds inspiration for painting in everyday experiences. Sketchbooks line the shelves of the self-built studio in which he now works, filled on his travels since leaving Winchester School of Art in 1987, through the US, the Far East and Australia, returning in more recent years to London. Ideas for his paintings are inspired by any subject ... landscapes, cities, street scenes, people, machines, images from television and the media; he strives for spontaneity, confidence and hours spent working with the medium. Whenever Henry looks at a scene he subconsciously begins to work out how he can paint it - how he might capture light, movement and atmosphere. Henry also has a strong feeling that traditional watercolour paintings are now subverting the established Bed, Shark and Ceramics of the not-so-YBA movement, though this has yet to be proved.
